Nutrition

We know that good nutrition is essential for healthy growth and development, and now is the time children are discovering new tastes and textures. A lot of planning goes into our menu, and we adapt it to make use of NZ grown seasonal produce. We use free-range meat and eggs and have one vegetarian meal most weeks. We avoid the use of processed meats, eg. ham and sausages. There is a Summer and Winter Menu and each season has a 4 week rotating menu. See below for an example week from our Summer Menu

Morning Tea Banana oat cookies & fresh fruit (seasonal selection) Yoghurt & fruit salad Rice bubbles with milk & sliced banana Marmite & Cheese scrolls & fresh fruit (seasonal selection) Toasted fruit & spice loaf
Lunch Mexican beef wraps with lean minced beef, red kidney beans and salad Free range chicken, pumpkin & spinach risotto Beef cottage pie with steamed vegetables Tuna & lentil bolognese with spaghetti pasta Free range chicken curry with carrots, pumpkin, green beans. Served with brown rice.
Afternoon Tea Fresh fruit, carrot and cucumber sticks with hummus and brown rice crackers Toasted English muffins with cream cheese & fresh tomato Chef's choice loaf and fresh fruit (seasonal selection) Pikelets with banana or blueberry center, and fresh fruit (seasonal selection) Cheese sandwiches with fresh fruit (seasonal selection)
Late Snack Selection from wholemeal crackers, corn thins, raisins and spreads: cream cheese, hummus, marmite.  
Infants Mashed vegetables served with beef, chicken or fish. Puree fruits or seasonal fruits. Yoghurt and custard.  

Water is offered at every meal.
